Head of Software Engineering

With a team of over 100 specialists encompassing developers, architects, QAs, designers, and engineering managers, you'll play a pivotal role in driving innovation and excellence in software engineering practices.

You will focus on overseeing the software development lifecycle, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions that meet business needs while adhering to best practices in software engineering.

Job description:

  • Introducing and promoting modern (agile) development methods and necessary work tools in the group to ensure optimal and correct work organization;

  • Cooperation with other group units, to link IT development principles with different methodologies and understandings used by the group (from idea to realization).

  • Manage the work of the software development department;

  • Ensuring the necessary qualified development resources in the form of in-house development teams and partners to ensure the realization of value-creating developments for IT product owners serving business lines;

  • Cooperation with the IT product owner, procurement and administration department for the acquisition of software and development competence related to external partners;

  • Ensuring a central view of ongoing IT development works (projects) and related development resources across the entire group.

  • You have demonstrated experience and success in senior software development and engineering leadership roles.

  • You possess a deep understanding of software engineering principles and technologies and have a track record of successfully leading teams that delivered complex software projects on time and within budget.

  • You have strong talent management skills including talent development, coaching, mentoring, and team motivation.

  • You can build and maintain strong cross-functional partnerships at all levels of the organization.

  • You have an up-to-date knowledge of methodologies and trends in both business and IT.

  • You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills, and the ability to communicate field concepts to technical and non-technical audiences at various hierarchical levels, ranging from board members to technical specialists.

  • You are a leader and builder of both vision and bridges and can lead and motivate the team to achieve tactical and strategic goals.

  • You are fluent in English and Estonian.

  • You have a degree in business administration or a technology-related field, or equivalent work experience.

Additional details

Location: We have offices in Tallinn, Tartu, and Jõhvi. Partial home office opportunity across Estonia.
